In 1885, the doors of WS Ponton first opened in the Northeast as Wilbur Simpson Ponton joined the wave of the Second Industrial Revolution with a vision of providing address information for the multitude of new advertisers. With mass-production on the rise, there were more products and more advertisers than ever before, and Ponton saw an opportunity with the recent invention of the telephone and mail-order catalogs.
